EM Tire Supply Crisis in Abatement

Following the fall in price for many mining products during 2008, global mining growth, which had been strong since late 2003, came to a sudden halt in late 2008. Many mines (notably nickel and diamond) have closed, and others (especially iron ore, copper and coal) have had expansion plans shelved.

Global Tire Supply Crisis Continues

The global crisis for the supply of earthmover (EM) tyres, that started in late 2003/early 2004, continues. Otraco predicts that the shortfall in global supply compared with demand will get worse before it gets better. Mining equipment sales are at record levels and the commodity boom remains in full swing (for the moment).

RimTec

Rimtec Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Otraco, supplying wheel and rim components, and consumables such tyre valves, O-rings, sealant and repair materials to the mining industry. It also has workshop facilities for the fabrication of wheel and rim bases, and for the inspection and refurbishment of wheel related components.

Rimtec’s head office is in Perth (Western Australia), with branches in Brisbane (Queensland, Australia), Johannesburg (South Africa), and Antofagasta (Chile).
